isouk (“isouk”, “we”, “us”) operates the marketplace at i-souk.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal data when you use our services. We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. Data We Collect

Account data

  • Email address (required for sign-up)
  • Full name (optional, provided by you)
  • Phone / WhatsApp number (optional)
  • Profile photo (optional)

Listing data

  • Title, description, price, currency, condition
  • Location (country, city)
  • Photos you upload

Usage data

  • IP address (used for country detection only)
  • Browser type and language
  • Pages visited and listings viewed

Payment data

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. We only store a Stripe customer ID and subscription status.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide the marketplace and let you post / browse listings.
  • To send transactional notifications (sign-up confirmation, subscription receipts, message alerts).
  • To detect and prevent fraud and abuse.
  • To improve the platform via aggregated usage statistics.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. Data Storage & Security

  • All data is stored in the European Union — EU (Frankfurt, Germany).
  • Database hosting: Supabase (eu-central-1). Application hosting: Vercel.
  • All traffic is encrypted in transit via HTTPS / TLS.
  • Passwords are hashed using bcrypt; we never store plaintext.
  • Database access is restricted by row-level security (RLS) so you can only read and write your own records.

5. Your Rights (GDPR)

You have the following rights at any time:

  • Right to access — request a copy of your personal data via Dashboard → Settings → Download my data.
  • Right to rectification — update your profile data at any time from your dashboard.
  • Right to erasure — delete your account permanently via Dashboard → Settings → Delete account.
  • Right to data portability — your exported data is provided in machine-readable JSON.
  • Right to object — contact us to object to specific uses of your data.
  • Right to lodge a complaint — you may complain to your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@i-souk.com. We respond within 30 days.

6. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.

  • Essential — auth session, language preference. You cannot opt out (the site won’t work without them).
  • Analytics — optional, only enabled if you accept.

7. Third-Party Services

  • Supabase — database, authentication, file storage.
  • Stripe — payment processing.
  • Vercel — application hosting and CDN.
  • flagcdn.com — country flag images (no personal data sent).

Each provider has its own privacy policy. We have signed Data Processing Agreements with all of them.
